1568 Bishop's Bible in Facsimile - SOLD
The 1568 Bishop's Bible has an amazing history. First, this is the edition that the bishops of the Church of England had in mind when Henry VIII authorized the 1539 Great Byble. Second, this is the edition that King James instructed to be used as the basis for the 1611 translation. Anyone who loves the King James Bible should have a copy of this rare edition for these reasons. It is also illustrated and comes with a medieval style genealogical tree as part of the front matter. Truly incredible.
Supple leather binding in burgundy with raised bands, black title labels, and tooling with the smell of real leather. This is the real thing when it comes to bindings.
Size is approximately 9 1/2" deep by 11 1/2" tall by 4" wide at the spine. Larger than letter sized pages. Weighs about 10 pounds.
This is a FACSIMILE, which means photographic images of each page were digitized and then printed. There is slight distortion in what appears to be digital printing and smudging from the original scans, but as facsimiles go, this is worth holding in collection due to the rarity and availability of this edition.
