The Book of Life

There are key themes embedded in the narratives throughout the Bible. One of these themes is the names recorded in the book of life. The second book of Moses, called Exodus, records the names of the children of Israel, who went in and then came up out of Egypt. God had liberated them through Moses. 

"... the names of the children of Israel, that went into Egypt with Jacob: they went in, every man with his household:   Ruben, Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Zabulon, and Benjamin,  Dan, and Nephtali, Gad and Aser.  And all the souls that came out of Jacob's thigh, were seventy ...."

Moses, whose name means drawn from the water, kills the task master. Similarly, those baptized into Christ put to death the sinful taskmaster at work in their carnal natures. The end result is the promise in Revelation, the apocalypse of Jesus Christ in the final redemption. Those, who overcome shall be called sons of God. Their names will be forever recorded in the book of life.
